Locke, 63, a North Sea oil veteran since joining Citibank in 1974, made more than £140m from shares and the eventual sale of Aberdeen oil services business Abbot in 2007. He then invested in Hertfordshire-based filling station operation Motor Fuel Group, which he still chairs, leading a £500m management buyout two years ago.
